Bhawani Dangal Advocated for the deaf refugee community in Concord. Now he's sharing his story.
September 27, 2026 Concord Monitor reporter Emilia Wisniewski recently had a feature article on Bhawani and his soon-to-be released book, Down the Braided River: My Journey as a Deaf Refugee.
"Dangal said he hopes his story will shine a light on Bhutanese and Nepali culture, as well as the experiences of living in refugee camps and immigrating to the United States...'I'm hoping that with more awareness of the deaf refugee experience, interpreter training programs can shed some light on how better to serve those communities, the deaf refugee communities,' Dangal said through an interpreter."
